"Have You Ever Tried a Knuckleball?" Homerun Pizza, Home Of The Famous Knuckleball, Is A Shining Example Of Entrepreneurial Perseverance And Positivity In Santa Rosa

SANTA ROSA, CA / ACCESSWIRE / June 15, 2021 / Any pizza lover will tell you that the perfect pizza is as close to heaven on earth as they'll get, and for the community of Santa Rosa, California that delectable pizza comes from local pizza shop Homerun Pizza & Sports Bar. Homerun Pizza, home of the famous Knuckleball, has been a staple in the community for 18 years, its current owner Cynthia Caughie has been with the business for 16 of those years, working as a server for 13 years before purchasing the business in 2018. She is known for being front and center in the business, greeting customers with her infectious smile and positive attitude, just like they were family.

Before we get too far into anything else it is important to talk about the Knuckleball, a staple and signature dish at Homerun Pizza, this delicious treat steals the hearts of anyone who tries it. The story behind it is as fun as the Knuckleball is delicious: a child of the former owner was looking for a snack one day and threw together some leftover pizza dough, filling it with mozzarella cheese and bacon, then tossed it in the oven to bake, creating what is now a signature treat available exclusively at Homerun Pizza & Sports Bar.

Customers are always asked if they have tried one, and if not when they do they realize how good simple, delicious quality food from the heart can be. There is nothing like the Knuckleball offered anywhere in the area, and Caughie has recently taken this ooey, gooey treat to the streets, with a newly acquired Homerun Pizza food trailer, Homerun On The Go. Her mission is to provide great food, and positive vibes to everyone she meets, and works to inspire others to believe in themselves, and thrive even in the hardest of times. Homerun Pizza is known for being the friendliest place around, making anyone who walks in the doors feel comfortable and welcome, with mouth-watering aromas, and delicious quality food. Homerun Pizza is owned by a Santa Rosa local, run by local staff, and uses the freshest locally grown ingredients making it a truly authentic, community-focused place.

Caughie has seen many things in her time at Homerun, watching the community grow and change around the shop. As an owner, she has seen the business through the Tubbs Fire, the Kincade Fire, and the COVID-19 pandemic, never giving up and never letting down her staff of customers. As she puts it, she knows "you can do hard things", working to inspire and empower others in the community to overcome adversity, even when it seems like giving up is the only option. This is true for her business, and her own life, she lost a home in the Tubbs Fire, yet never thought about giving up. For her, it is about believing in herself, and in her community, and keeping the shop going through whatever might come next with a positive mindset.

Part of that perseverance and dedication to the community is what inspired the food trailer, as well as motivated Caughie to start the Giving Tuesday's initiative at Homerun Pizza. Every month Homerun Pizza supports a local nonprofit or charity, by donating 15% of proceeds earned on the third Tuesday of every month. Every month the featured charity is shared and promoted on the restaurant's social media, to raise awareness for the cause, and of course, inspire people to come out and get some pizza and some Knuckleballs. For the past three years, the restaurant has supported the fight against Parkinson's Disease by participating in the Tour De Fox charity event, volunteering time, and donating delicious food.

Throughout the pandemic, Caughie watched as things in her community kept getting shut down and taken away, and was determined not to let that stop her, or prevent her from working hard every day for her staff and customers. When her planned second location fell through, she went in the direction of the food trailer, realizing she could bring the comforting taste of the Knuckleball and Homerun's signature pizzas right to them. The truck is built for versatility and is available for catering, along with private and public events. It can go anywhere and is already finding a lot of love in the community despite only rolling out a few weeks ago.

Caughie is an innovative entrepreneur and mentee of Grant Cardone through the 10X community. She recently shared her story in a compilation book for entrepreneurs Ignite the Entrepreneur and is writing her own book You CAN do hard things. Along with that, she is dedicated to getting Homerun On The Go out to reach as many people as possible, spreading the love for the Knuckleball far and wide. Check out the Homerun Pizza website and social media to learn more, and as always head on over to the shop to get your slice of pizza or signature Knuckleball anytime.
