For 2022, Safe + Sound Week takes place from August 15th through the 21st. The annual week of recognition has been described by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as a nationwide event to raise awareness and understanding of the value of safety and health programs to systematically find and fix hazards in the workplace.
According to OSHA:
Successful safety and health programs can proactively identify and manage workplace hazards before they cause injury or illness, improving sustainability and the bottom line. Participating in Safe + Sound Week can help get your program started, energize an existing one, or provide a chance to recognize your safety successes.
These efforts are critically important because although the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) states that the rate of worker deaths and reported injuries in the United States has decreased over the past several decades, thousands of workers are still killed on the job and millions suffer job-related injuries or illnesses each year.
“This year marks the sixth annual Safe + Sound Week,” said Joe Frasca, Senior Vice President, Marketing at EMSL Analytical, Inc. “Occupational safety and health programs that identify and mitigate exposure risks to chemical, microbial, radiological, thermal and noise hazards can decrease the number of deaths, injuries and illnesses suffered by the nation's workforce. With laboratories across the United States and Canada, EMSL provides industrial hygiene testing services, sampling supplies, monitoring instruments and personal protective equipment (PPE) to support these efforts. These services and products help to safeguard workers and build stronger companies and institutions. EMSL is proud to support the efforts of Safe + Sound Week.”
