Dr. Mark Hickman Shares His Mission to Reduce the Cost of Vasectomy Reversal Procedures

Dr. Mark Hickman is offering affordable vasectomy reversal procedures for an all-inclusive cost at his clinic in New Braunfels, Texas.

Dr. Hickman offers two all-inclusive vasectomy reversal options at his New Braunfels clinic. The microsurgical vasectomy reversal $3,300 option includes local anesthesia and an oral sedative. The $4,200 offer is performed under IV sedation and is administered by a Board Certified Anesthesiologist. Both microsurgical options are all-inclusive with no hidden fees.

Dr. Hickman explains the reason behind the affordable pricing by saying, “I do this not as a profession but as a mission that I’ve been handed from God. My Christian faith guides me to help patients and families who may have been misled about the vasectomy procedure and to give them back the chance to have children again. To make sure that I can reach as many patients as possible, I also use my expertise in microsurgery to bring down the costs and increase the accuracy of the vasectomy reversal procedure.”

Dr. Mark Hickman is an expert in laparoscopic procedures, the science of performing surgery with minimally invasive telescopic instruments. After beginning his private practice in New Braunfels in 1988, he mastered the then-fledgling field of surgery. Today, he boasts several distinctions including having invented microsurgical instruments, having been awarded a U.S. patent, and recognition as a contributor to several other important minimally invasive patents. He is, undoubtedly, a pioneer in the field who is now using his gifts to help families bring new life into this world.

Apart from his professional achievements, Dr. Hickman is also an active member of the community. He had the honor of serving his country in Operation Desert Storm aboard the hospital ship USNS Mercy. He is an active member of his church, is involved with the Men’s ACTS Retreat Ministry, and currently serves on the Apostolate Board for the North American Province of the Missionaries of the Holy Family. He also serves on the Board of Directors of TIPHER (The Institute for Public Education, Health, and Research).

During the vasectomy reversal surgery, which is performed under local anesthesia, a small incision is made on each side of the scrotal skin. The two ends of the vas deferens are found and freed from the surrounding scar tissue. Then, Dr. Hickman makes a microsurgical repair of the vas deferens using a Zeiss OPMI-MDM operating microscope utilizing 10-0 nylon suture, a thickness much finer than a human hair.

The repair of the vas deferens requires 10-15 stitches with the goal to create direct and careful alignment of the lumen of the two ends of the vas and a watertight closure. Following the procedure, a sample of fluid from the testicular end of the vas deferens is placed on a glass slide and examined under a laboratory microscope. If the fluid does not contain any sperm, then a vasoepididymostomy must be performed. Regardless of the outcome, the cost of the second procedure is already factored into the all-inclusive package.

Dr. Hickman’s services have changed the life of many individuals and families across the United States. In their reviews, patients talk about how gentle and caring the clinic’s staff is. They also graciously thank Dr. Hickman for helping them conceive again, in many cases several years or decades after the vasectomy.

One patient says, “Just wanted to share our news with you! Travis had his reversal in January 2013. He never went for the follow-up to have his count tested, so after a year or so of no baby we just assumed that it hadn’t worked and another baby was not in God’s plan for us, especially when he sent us another teenager to adopt. And just as we began the adoption process - we discovered that we were, in fact, pregnant! Travis calls it our two-for-one special, a teenager and an infant!”
