RTI and Sheridan College partner for the fourth year to drive purpose-driven digital innovation through UX research, design, and mentorship.
-- Red Thread Innovations (RTI), a Toronto-based digital innovation firm specializing in UX research and design, has partnered with Sheridan College for the fourth consecutive year to deliver the Purposeful Innovation Program. This initiative challenges students in Sheridan's Bachelor of Interaction Design (IXD) program to address pressing societal issues through innovative digital solutions, leveraging RTI's expertise in user-centered design methodologies.
Over two semesters, student teams have explored 3 critical problem spaces: early childhood education, equitable healthcare access, and family dynamics in the modern age.
Students are guided by RTI’s proven innovation methodologies and receive mentorship from dedicated RTI coaches. This year's partnership will culminate in an exciting pitch day on April 15 at Sheridan College's Trafalgar Campus, where students will present their solutions to a panel of judges, with winning teams earning job shadowing opportunities at RTI.
Previous problem spaces explored by students in past years include housing accessibility, the loneliness epidemic, and workplace wellbeing.
To date, the program has engaged over 300 students, contributed more than 600 hours of mentorship, and surfaced transformative ideas addressing real-world challenges. This year’s focus on improving early childhood education, equitable healthcare access, and family dynamics in the modern age reflects RTI’s mission to create meaningful digital products that positively impact millions of lives.
