Neighborhood Favorites is a unique business awards program based on positive recommendations from real neighbors that live in the local community. For the second consecutive year, the 2022 Neighborhood Favorites is sponsored by American Express, a company with a long-standing history of supporting small businesses.

“Today, neighborhoods mean so much more than those living near each other — it’s the people, organizations, and businesses combined that define a vibrant community. At Nextdoor, we believe that when local businesses thrive, neighborhoods thrive. We have a powerful platform that enables businesses and brands to create meaningful connections. We are proud to once again partner with American Express to recognize and support the small businesses that are helping build strong neighborhoods,” said Heidi Andersen, Head of Revenue at Nextdoor.

Neighbors in the United States can vote by creating a Nextdoor post and @mentioning a favorite business with the hashtag #NeighborhoodFavoritesContest, or by leaving recommendations on Business Pages. Businesses can begin collecting recommendations by claiming their free Nextdoor Business Page at nextdoor.com/business. The 2022 winning list of businesses in each city will be available at nextdoor.com/favorites on August 22, 2022.

All winning businesses will be included on the Neighborhood Favorites list in each neighborhood they were voted a favorite and will be awarded a trophy badge on Nextdoor for greater visibility among the customers that matter most — neighbors. Winners of the 2022 Neighborhood Favorites are determined based on the number of neighbor recommendations a local business receives on Nextdoor across various categories including restaurants, coffee shops, bookstores, real estate, dentists, landscapers, and more, unlike other business awards programs that are calculated based on ratings.

On Nextdoor, small businesses are a trusted and core member of the community. They turn to Nextdoor to connect with a uniquely engaged local audience and grow their word-of-mouth reputation. There are already more than 55 million business recommendations on the platform and the motivation to support the local economy is only growing. Pre-pandemic, 88% of neighbors** frequented a local business at least once a week. Now, 72% of U.S. adults*** are making it more of a priority to support local businesses compared to before the pandemic.

Nextdoor offers solutions for small businesses to create an online presence by claiming a free Business Page to gather recommendations, engage neighbors when and where it matters most through Business Posts, and grow their business through customized Nextdoor Ads. In five easy steps, Nextdoor Ads help businesses turn neighbors into customers.
