Marquis Who's Who Honors Ethan Edmondson for Excellence in Music Education

UNIONDALE, NY / ACCESS Newswire / May 5, 2025 / Marquis Who's Who honors Ethan Edmondson for excellence in music education. A gifted instrumentalist, he has taught music in multiple Maine school districts for over a decade. Since 2024, Mr. Edmondson has served as a music teacher at Spruce Mountain School District Regional School Unit 73. In this capacity, he instructs chorus and general music for third, fourth and fifth grade students. While cultivating the skills of young musicians, he also offers them more opportunities to express their talents.

A Career Inspired by Family Tradition
Passion for music runs deep in the Edmondson family. Mr. Edmondson's mother, Rebecca, is a retired music educator. Growing up in a musical household led him to pick up the trumpet as his instrument of choice. Inspired by his mother, he decided to integrate his love for music with a desire to teach others.

In 2010, Mr. Edmondson earned a Bachelor of Science in music education, with a minor in cello, from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. After that, he continued his studies with master's coursework at the University of Maine. This foundation prepared him for life-changing work that would impact the lives of young people for years to come.

Access Makes the Difference
Maine is known for many wonderful things. However, there was one glaring omission Mr. Edmondson couldn't ignore: there was a lack of opportunities for young musicians, particularly those interested in stringed instruments. Recognizing this gap, he set out to expand access to music education.

Before joining Spruce Mountain, Mr. Edmondson worked in various school districts across Maine. One district, Searsport, is where he established a music program. The impact of his efforts led to recognition as a Teacher of the Year finalist.

More recently, Mr. Edmondson aims to work with pupils at a private school in his spare time. The driving force behind this mission is to give young people more orchestral experiences. "There isn't much exposure for students to stringed instruments," he says. "I'm doing what I can to cultivate interest and encourage the students."

The Best Advice Ever Given
Mastery in music, like any discipline, doesn't happen overnight. Mr. Edmondson believes in the power of incremental improvement. It's a belief derived from the following advice he once received: "Do everything that you can to be 1% better every day because, over time, that 1 percent adds up." This lesson is one he shares with students to help them focus on steady progress rather than immediate perfection.

Mr. Edmondson also instills in his pupils the importance of persistence. "You're going to have setbacks and adversities to overcome," he says. To that end, he reminds the young learners that what they do daily to improve themselves by 1% will enable them to reach their goals.

Musical Interests Beyond the Classroom
Mr. Edmondson's contributions aren't limited to the classroom. In 2011, he played a critical role in founding the Eastern Maine Pops Orchestra, a community ensemble in Bar Harbor. He and his mother collaborated to launch the project. The effort also allows young musicians to perform and refine their craft.

Additionally, Mr. Edmondson's involvement in community music continues today. Currently, he's a trumpet player with the Downeast Chamber Orchestra. The ensemble performs regularly in Winter Harbor, Maine.

A Musical Legacy for the Next Generation
A deep commitment to student growth defines Mr. Edmondson's career. As a multifaceted music educator who teaches in public schools, works privately with young musicians and performs in community ensembles, he's a shining example of educational and musical virtuosity. In the upcoming years, he will continue instilling in students the value of excellence through diligent effort.
