Churchwell, M.D., president and CEO of Boston Children's Hospital, to be held on Thursday, April 3, at the Hilton Boston Park Plaza Hotel.
This signature fundraising event shines a light on the city's exceptional business leaders and philanthropists, combining heartfelt appreciation with playful humor. The gala raises critical funds to ensure all patients receive high-quality medical care and social services, regardless of their financial situation.
As the president and CEO of Boston Children's Hospital, Dr. Churchwell leads with vision and oversight, guiding a team dedicated to advancing child health care. Since joining Boston Children's in 2013 as Executive Vice President of Health Affairs and Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Churchwell has played a pivotal role in transforming the hospital into a High Reliability Organization, ensuring zero avoidable harm to patients, families, and staff. His commitment to enhancing the patient and family experience mirrors his impactful past leadership at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Delaware, and Monroe Carell, Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
A staunch advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion, Dr. Churchwell has established three of the 11 Offices of Health Equity and Inclusion across hospitals in the U.S. and Canada.
Dr. Churchwell is an alumnus of Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Vanderbilt Medical School. He completed his pediatric residency and a clinical fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care at Boston Children's Hospital. Currently, he serves as an Associate Professor of Pediatric Anesthesia at Harvard Medical School, where he holds the Robert and Dana Smith Associate Professorship of Anesthesia.
