Section 1 - Conflict Minerals Disclosure

Item 1.01 Conflict Minerals Disclosure and Report

Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. (the “Company”) manufactures or contracts to manufacture power conversion and thermal instrumentation products that may contain “conflict minerals” as defined in paragraph (d)(3) Item 1.01. As these materials are necessary to the functionality and production of the Company’s products, the Company has conducted in good faith a reasonable country of origin inquiry regarding these materials designed to determine whether any of the conflict minerals originated in the Democratic Republic of the Congo or an adjoining country (as defined by paragraph (d)(1) of Item 1.01).

In conducting the reasonable country of origin inquiry, the Company’s suppliers were engaged to collect information regarding the presence and sourcing of tantalum, tin, tungsten, and gold (3TG), used in the products supplied to the Company. Information was collected and stored using an online platform provided by a third party vendor. The program utilized the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) and Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) Conflict Minerals Due Diligence Template (EICC-GeSI Template) for data collection.
Suppliers were contacted to address issues identified including incomplete data on EICC-GeSI reporting templates, responses that did not identify smelters or refiners, responses which indicated sourcing location without complete supporting information from the supply chain, and organizations that were identified as smelter or refiners, but not verified as such through further analysis and research. Further information regarding the due diligence process is contained in the Conflict Minerals Report attached hereto as Exhibit 1.02.
