GOL Starts Flights to Chapecó, in Santa Catarina
São Paulo, October 16, 2006 GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes (Bovespa: GOLL4 e NYSE: GOL), Brazilian low cost, low fare airline, starts today its operations in Chapecó, in the west of Santa Catarina state. Daily flights will follow the route São Paulo Florianopolis Chapecó. Passengers from Porto Alegre may fly to the new destination via connection in Florianopolis.
With nearly 170 thousand inhabitants, Chapecó is one of the main agro industrial centers in Latin America. The city has one of the largest chicken and pork export firms in the Country. Other segments such as metal-mechanic are going through a fast expansion process. Around six thousand passengers use the citys airport monthly that is located at 630 km from Florianopolis. "Based on the region's potential for economic development, GOL believes connecting west Santa Catarina and its capital with Brazil's major destinations will contribute to the region's continued growth," says Tarcisio Gargioni, Vice President of Marketing and Services of GOL.
