Mending Kids 17th Annual Imagine Gala's Got The Beat

By: PRLog

After two years of facing the challenges of the global pandemic, Mending Kids' largest and most important fundraising event exceeded expectations with the return of its annual Imagine Gala.

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. - April 8, 2022 - PRLog -- Mending Kids did not miss a beat with the successful turnout of its annual Imagine – The Beat Goes On - Gala. Held at the Malibu Jewish Center & Synagogue on April 2nd, 2022, 200 attendees shared in celebrating 17 years of providing critical surgical care to children in the US and abroad.

To date, Mending Kids has deployed over 141 missions around the world helping almost 4,700 children from 68 countries; including the United States, as well as mentoring and empowering local medical professionals, elevating their standards of care and leading them on a path to self-sustainment.

Hosted by Grammy Award-winner, and actress Tia Carrere, the evening included a lively auction and award ceremony. Guests enjoyed an evening of fine dining, entertainment, music, dancing under the stars, and received special Mending Kids gear and gifts from John Paul Mitchell Systems and Heilo Skincare.

During the event, honorees, Dr. Evan Zahn and Dr. Salvatore Agati were recognized for their achievements, dedication and service to providing free life-saving surgical care to sick children worldwide. Members of The La Cañada Junior Women's Club were also recognized for their dedicated efforts and advocacy, in support of Mending Kids' Hometown Missions.

A highlight of the evening entailed a heartfelt testimonial from past cardiac patient, Danna Ramon, who was given zero chance of survival and is now a senior in high school and has been accepted to NYU.

"I am one of the first "Mended Kids". Throughout its various years, Mending Kids has helped thousands of kids like me and given them the opportunity to live a full and healthy life. It has always been my dream to become a pediatric surgeon and in this way give back a little of the help I received when I most needed it." -Danna Ramon, Mending Kids Recipient

Special thanks to the sponsors, donors, and supporters for their generosity. Contributions from the event will go toward helping Mending Kids continue to provide funding for its core life-saving programs: Hometown Mission, Mend US, Overseas Surgical Mission, and Individual Surgical Care, a program where volunteer surgical teams correct acute conditions such as congenital heart, colorectal malformations, plastic and burns, orthopedic abnormalities, and severe scoliosis.
