Dynamic online learning for today's arthritis patient

Vancouver, British Columbia Jan 26, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Arthritis Consumer Experts (ACE) today relaunched their patient education program: JointHealth Education. Since its 2016 launch, JointHealth Education has helped thousands of people living with arthritis become equal and active partners with their healthcare providers choosing and managing their overall treatment and care plan. Many of those users provided ACE with comments and feedback, which have been implemented in the relaunched JointHealth Education, including enhanced features to provide easier access and more streamlined learning:

  • New ability to take any JointHealth Education course, at any time, and in any order
  • Printable and downloadable lessons and quizzes
  • Tools to view coaching videos at any time

"JointHealth Education was inspired by many of ACE's members living with inflammatory arthritis who told us they lacked the communications expertise to have full, satisfying conversations with their rheumatologists on topics such as treatment options during their clinical visits. We encourage arthritis patients to visit and experience JointHealth Education and learn how to successfully prepare for your medical visit, set treatment goals and make an overall plan, and manage and monitor your type of arthritis," said Cheryl Koehn, Founder and President of Arthritis Consumer Experts.

Through current, evidence-informed lessons, quizzes, and coaching videos, JointHealth Education helps prepare people living with arthritis to appropriately frame their health concerns and questions with their healthcare provider and helps friends and families of those living with arthritis better understand the disease journey.

Canadian rheumatologists have been actively discussing and pursuing ways to improve communication between people living with arthritis and rheumatologists to achieve the best possible disease outcomes: "JointHealth Education is a valuable tool not just for people living with arthritis, but also for rheumatologists - junior and senior, alike - to better assess the wants and needs of patients through their eyes, not just ours as was the case in days gone by," said Kam Shojania, MD, FRCPC, Clinical Professor and Head, Division of Rheumatology, University of British Columbia, and Medical Director of the Mary Pack Arthritis Program.

Please note you can connect with JointHealth Education on the Arthritis Consumer Experts Facebook page if you have any comments or questions about JointHealth Education.
