Walmart presented MOV with a five thousand dollar check during Juneteenth to support their youth programs.
FITZGERALD, Ga. - June 19, 2024 - PRLog -- Fitzgerald, Georgia - With the Juneteenth now being a federal holiday, more cities across the country are implementing their own celebrations. MOV Foundation Corp also known as Men of Vision Foundation hosted their 5th Annual MOV Juneteenth Weekend and MOV 5K Run/3K Walk June 14-16, 2024 in Fitzgerald, Georgia. Walmart was a Corporate Sponsor and presented a five-thousand dollar check as part of a grant to MOV to support their youth programs. "Walmart is proud to support the 5th Annual Men of Vision Juneteenth Weekend. This collaboration reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting the African American community and fostering positive change nationwide," said Robert Hendry, Senior Manager of Community Affairs at Walmart. "Walmart has a long track record of supporting the African-American community. So we at MOV are extremely humbled for them to value our community efforts enough to support us", says Carlos Scott of Men of Vision Foundation.
Multi-Platinum/GRAMMY Award Winning singer Q Parker (co-founding member of R&B group 112) hosted the Juneteenth Block Party that Saturday afternmoon. MOV donated one hundred percent of the proceeds from the run/walk that Saturday morning to local youth not-for-profit ~ Monitor Enrichment Center. The weekend featured family friendly activities, celebrity appearances, food trucks, vendors, authors, Black art, guest speakers, DJs, artists performances, raffle prizes, and signature events like - FREE Jazz in the Park Friday night, Juneteenth Youth Essay Contest, MOV Honorees, FREE Workout Training, Kids Zone, and Gospel Fest to close out that Sunday
Juneteenth Weekend is also MOV's biggest annual fundraiser, as they use all proceeds (outside of the Run/Walk) from that weekend to help underwrite MOV programs and community initiatives they produce throughout the year; Mentoring, Financial Literacy, Career Readiness Training, STEM Incubator, and Health and Wellness initiatives. MOV also has Youth Enrichment Trips where they take students to HBCUs and significant sites across the country. MOV couldn't produce Juneteenth Weekend without the generous support of other Corporate Sponsors as well like the City of Fitzgerald, WALB News 10, Coca-Cola UNITED, Hibbett Sports, Harvey's, Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, Georgia Department of Public Health, Marble Wines and UPSCALE Magazine.
