Ceremony to mark the occasion of Irish US Embassy’s Land Purchase Agreement on prime Dublin road held to great celebration

DUBLIN, IRELAND - Media OutReach Newswire - 5 February 2024 - A ceremony has been held to mark the occasion of the United States of America's land purchase agreement in the US Embassy; which was attended by An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar TD. The agreement was made between the United States and Castlethorn and will see the United States develop a new $700million embassy on the site of the former Ballsbridge Hotel.

Speaking at the event the Taoiseach said; "This agreement is a significant milestone in Irish-US relations.

"The United States was one of the first countries in the world to recognise an Independent Irish Free State 100 years ago, and sixty years on from the US establishing their diplomatic headquarters in Ballsbridge they are making a substantial investment in Ireland; ensuring an enhanced diplomatic presence here for the next 100 years and beyond."

US Ambassador H.E. Claire Cronin said; "When President Biden visited Ireland last year, he called this a 'partnership for the ages.' Tonight, I can think of no better way to honour our shared history than to look ahead to the next 100 years of partnership. The new embassy will be a physical embodiment of the amazing growth in trade, investment, education, and cultural ties between the United States and Ireland. I want to thank Joe O'Reilly and recognise the professionalism of Castlethorn in working with us over the years to deliver this agreement."

Concluding the speeches, Joe O'Reilly of Castlethorn Chartered Land Group said: "I would like to thank Ambassador Cronin and the US State Department for their diligence and effort in reaching this agreement, together with the effort from all other stakeholders involved in this process, including our partners ADIA. I also want to thank An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar TD for attending this ceremony; which marks the significance of this event.
