Online News Magazine Site About Arctic & Antarctic Travel & Expeditions Launched

Polar Journal, a new travel site devoted to the culture, politics, and tourism of the North and South Poles, has been officially launched.

-- Polar Journal has been launched as an online platform dedicated to informative and entertaining content relating to polar expeditions and extreme travel opportunities. The initial coverage available on the site explores new developments in the icebreaker ship industry, the political landscape of Greenland, and new discoveries in Arctic biology.

The team behind Polar Journal seeks to share the fascinating stories of adventure and discovery from extreme latitudes that much of the world ignores. Despite the reputation of the poles as barren landscapes, the site offers a glimpse into the rare and remarkable opportunities that polar tourism can present, both to scientists and hobbyists alike.

As it happens, nearly 100,000 people visit the Arctic and Antarctic Circles each year, though the vast majority do so aboard luxury cruise ships. The number of people who visit the Antarctic landmass each year is dramatically smaller, at around 2,000, though, as Polar Journal explains, those who do are richly rewarded for their efforts.

Of course, a major aspect of any discussion regarding these areas must include climate change, which is also covered by Polar Journal. They offer insights into the many threats facing the inhabitants—both human and animal—of the polar regions and the efforts being made to slow the degradation of these pristine regions.

Following the launch of this site, Polar Journal hopes to offer a dedicated hub for all polar expeditions, large and small. Those interested in traveling to the North and South Poles should check back frequently to catch the launch of their expedition hub, coming sometime in 2025, or to learn about new polar job opportunities that may be available now.
