September 19, 2025 - Hangzhou, China & Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany - smart, the premium intelligent electric automotive brand, kicked off its presence at IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich with a lively Monday morning press conference. The event at the company’s IAA Summit booth marked an important milestone with the confirmation of the upcoming smart #2, generating interest among industry experts and media alike. Attendees also experienced the world premiere of the exclusive smart #3 Keith Haring “Celebrating the Streets” art car, which showcases smart’s innovative design philosophy and inspirational co-creation. Throughout the day, numerous conversations took place at the exhibition stand focusing on the current and upcoming product portfolio, as well as on the continued evolution of the smart brand in Europe and globally. At IAA, smart is presenting its entire all-electric vehicle portfolio for the first time together at a major European automotive show. Confirmation of the smart #2 as a new model to come
At the “smart Mobility Talk” on Monday morning, smart Europe CEO Dirk Adelmann confirmed in front of the press conference attendees that the smart #2 will become a new addition to the product portfolio of smart. He was joined by Dr. Tilo Schweers, Vice President Research & Development at smart Europe, and Kai Sieber, Mercedes-Benz Design, Head of smart Design, who shared details about the final development stage of the new all-electric city car. With the reinvention of this very compact two-seater, the company is responding to the wishes of its community and brand enthusiasts. With the support and trustful partnership of its shareholders and investors, smart is currently working on the decisive design and engineering development stages. The goal is to present the series-production model of the smart #2 in Europe as early as fall 2026.

One highlight of smart’s press conference at IAA Mobility was the world premiere of the specially designed smart #3 Keith Haring “Celebrating the Streets” art car. The new model has a strong connection to urban culture and represents a creative continuation of the brand’s Keith Haring art car co-creation first introduced during Auto Shanghai in April 2025. Following the presentation, the smart #3 Keith Haring Edition – featuring subtle accents inspired by this one-off art car – will be displayed from Tuesday at the IAA Open Space smart booth.

About Keith Haring:
Keith Haring was one of the most renowned young artists, filmmakers, and performers whose work responded to urban street culture of the 1980s. Not only was Haring able to reach a large and diverse audience with his iconic subway drawings, but, eventually, the subway became, as Haring said, a "laboratory" for working out his ideas. As early as in 1980, Haring began exhibiting in galleries and museums around the world, but continued to participate in public projects, including literacy campaigns and anti-AIDS initiatives. Before his death, Keith Haring established a foundation in his name to maintain and enhance his legacy of giving to children’s and AIDS organizations. Throughout his career, Haring produced murals, sculptures and paintings to benefit hospitals, underprivileged children’s groups and various community health organizations.
