A new children’s book is being released inspired by the author’s real life appendicitis experience. Christopher “Dante” Alighire survived a code blue back in 2017, because of a burst appendix. Alighire says “The goal of the book is to promote the importance and fun of reading for kids, while saving lives. I want to teach the warning signs of this deadly silent killer that kills over 50,000 americans every year through a children’s book and fun poem I created”. The author also filmed an appendix awareness PSA based on his very own story with appendicitis, which includes the poem as well. The book was also inspired by a real life purple 1966 21 Window VW Microbus Deluxe that was built from the ground up by Aggie at Splits in Huntington Beach, CA. The microbus is also part of the Kowabunga Van Klan in Huntington Beach, CA.
The real life Connie and book pays homage to Alighire’s mom who’s name was Connie. The author says “Purple was my mom’s favorite color. A color that enlightens, inspires uplifts, and encourages. Purple also embraces spirituality, mystery, royalty and imagination. My mom Connie loved reading, and was heavily involved with the library. She ran a food kitchen for 30 years at St. Pius X Church in Grandville, MIchigan feeding thousands of families. She would also visit hospitals, and was an associate of the dominican sisters at Marywood in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I get to be with her every day bringing smiles and happiness to people, while I drive her for miles and miles”. Alighire says. A plan is in motion to turn Connie into a mobile bookstore. Alighire will be out there everyday in various areas of LA selling additional merchandise and books with his dog Czar, who loves to hang on his shoulder.
“The Adventures Of Connie The Purple Bus“ will be available in August. And will include a free toy surprise in every book. You’re very own little cut out Connie.

The children’s book was published by Mascot Books, Illustrated by Nidhom, dedicated to his mom Connie, and brother Vince. The author plans on writing more Connie books, and pitching an animated series in the near future. The author, real life Connie Bus, and Czar reside in Hermosa Beach, CA.
