Morris & Dickson Continues Growth Trajectory with National Licensing for Distribution Across All 50 States

M&D Accelerates Plans to Open Olive Branch, MS Distribution Center by 2026

Morris & Dickson announced today that it is now licensed to deliver pharmaceuticals and related products to health systems, independent pharmacies, specialty pharmacies and alternative care facilities across all 50 states. With a 180-plus year reputation as the leading pharmaceutical distributor in the south-central region of the United States, this national expansion signifies a milestone in M&D’s growth strategy with the ability to serve pharmacies across all sites of care nationally.

“We are very excited to begin services across the United States and extend the impeccable customer service and personalized touch that our customers expect of Morris & Dickson,” says Jody Hatcher, chief executive officer. “We were already the country’s largest independent full-line pharmaceutical distributor, and now our reach has expanded nationwide.”

This licensure expansion is the latest example of Morris & Dickson’s recent history of strategic growth. The Company has spent the last five years building a state-of-the-art compliance program and high-tech, automated distribution center at its headquarters in Shreveport, LA.

The growth strategy is now resulting in the development of a second distribution center, slated to begin operating by late this year in Olive Branch, MS, a suburb of Memphis, TN. Strategically located for expanded next-delivery to support its specialty and secondary distribution business, the Company anticipates the 97,200-square foot distribution center will add new jobs to the area and contribute to the ongoing growth of the Memphis economy.

“We’re thrilled to add the vibrant city of Memphis into Morris & Dickson’s rich culture,” says Jason Hanks, chief commercial officer. “Now that we will be expanding our services across the country, Memphis is the ideal location for our second base of operations.”

The new Olive Branch distribution center, located a short distance from Memphis International Airport, is being purposely built to support its growing specialty distribution business, which has doubled in portfolio size in the last two years due to contracts with significant pharmaceutical suppliers including Johnson&Johnson®, Pfizer® and Genentech®, among others. In addition, this newest facility for M&D will replicate and expand the cold chain capabilities of its Shreveport location, including:

  • Dedicated Specialty Distribution and Unit of Use refrigerated area/ room temperature areas
  • Aerosafe® Global and Coldtainer® capabilities for product tracking and integrity; environmental efficiency
  • Special handling of chemo, hazardous and flammable items
  • Product 100% picked & packed with zero excursion time outside 2-8° C
  • Daily delivery through owned fleet & FedEx©️
