Aperture Investors Hires Vladimir Lemin to Lead New Structured Credit Strategy

Alternative asset manager expands firm’s offering with structured credit strategy

Aperture Investors, an alternative asset manager, today announced that Vladimir Lemin has joined the firm to lead its newly launched Structured Credit business. In his new role, Lemin will serve as Global Head of Structured Credit, supported by a team of seasoned investment professionals.

Lemin brings two decades of experience in structured credit to his new role at Aperture. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Managing Director at One William Street Capital Management, managing a multi-billion-dollar portfolio of residential mortgage-backed securities (“RMBS”) and asset-backed securities (“ABS”). Before that, Lemin spent eight years at Magnetar Capital, overseeing RMBS and CMBS portfolios and leading a team of traders and financial engineers. Lemin started his career in finance at Lehman Brothers as a Vice President where he specialized in structuring and trading RMBS. Lemin earned his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and his PhD in Mathematics from Pennsylvania State University.

“We have been carefully evaluating how to offer innovative credit strategies to meet the evolving needs of our investors. By providing new investment opportunities in the structured credit space, we believe we can attract additional institutions seeking above-market returns,” said Peter Kraus, Aperture CEO and Chairman. “Vladimir’s expertise is an ideal complement to Aperture, strengthening our existing strategies and enhancing our ability to deliver value through structured credit offerings.”

The Aperture Structured Credit strategy will offer fixed income investors an opportunity to diversify their portfolios and gain exposure to US housing, commercial real estate, and underserved consumer borrower markets, as well as emerging sectors such as datacenters, fiberoptics, and electric vehicles where attractive securitized collateral structures are available. The team will attempt to harvest additional risk premia available in securitized products as compared to the corporate bond market due to complexity, illiquidity, and barrier to entry in the sector.

“I’ve spent my career in finance working in structured credit and am excited to bring my experience to Aperture,” commented Lemin. “Aperture offers an institutional platform for building a best-in-class business, and I am proud to be a part of the next chapter in the firm’s evolution.”

The launch of the structured credit strategy, led by Lemin, marks another key milestone for the firm as it strengthens the firm’s coverage and solidifies its position in the evolving credit landscape.
