Partner of Injet Had High Score in Haus Garten Test of Home Charging Stations

About The Injet New Energy

Injet New Energy is committed to providing the best Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE), energy management products and services for our partners and end-users. We can bring a different EV charging experience to the world by our ability to integrate and develop top-notch EV charging stations with energy solutions. As the excellent business partner of injet in Germany, DaheimLader participated in this Haus Garten Test and scored well on the testing.

A photovoltaic system pays for itself the quickest if you don’t sell the electricity back to the grid, but use it for yourself. The DaheimLader Touch wallbox has a few tricks up its sleeve to exclusively charge your electric car with the solar energy it generates. We have tested this process step by step.

The test model in the DaheimLader Test 2024

Wall box:  DaheimLader Touch 11kW Charging StationThis test appears in issue 4/2024 of HAUS & GARTEN TEST.

The DaheimLader Touch is a super fancy wallbox with a totally weatherproof housing and a big 7-inch touch screen. You can make lots of settings right on the device and keep an eye on the current status and charging history. If it’s not locked by the owner, you can start or stop the charging process using a little button on the right side. And if you want to be extra secure, you can use an RFID card or chip on the wallbox or even start charging from your smartphone app. The wallbox connects to the internet either through a LAN connection or Wi-Fi, and you can easily enter your access info on the password-protected touch screen.

Cool Features in the DaheimLaden app

The smartphone app or the home charging website offer many more options for settings. On the home page, you can check the status of the box and see details of previous charging cycles. The charging history, which can be accessed separately, provides information on time, duration, amount of electricity charged, and any costs incurred. To do this, you need to first store the electricity costs per kWh in the settings. The evaluations display monthly costs and past consumption in a visually appealing format. In addition, you can activate RFID cards in the settings to ensure that only authorized users can use the home charger if it is installed in a publicly accessible location. If multiple home chargers are connected to one house connection, it is recommended to enable load management. This allows wall boxes to communicate with each other and reduce their output to a previously defined maximum value when working simultaneously so as not to overload the house distribution.

Why should you use PV surplus?

The DaheimLader automatically takes on the task of only charging the car when the sun is shining and stopping the charging process whenever a cloud appears.Or maybe you could just slightly reduce the charging current so that the electric car only uses as much electricity as it’s currently being produced? With an additional tool called “Poweropti” from Berlin startup Powerfox, the wallbox gets all the information it needs directly from the electricity meter. But before we get to that point, there are still some easy preparatory steps that need to be taken. The first thing, you gotta check if the meter is compatible. Nowadays, all newly installed bidirectional meters come with a standard infrared interface that gives electricity customers real-time access to all the relevant consumption and feed-in data they need. Those old “dial” meters won’t cut it anymore, but don’t worry, network operators are quick to replace them as soon as a PV system is registered on your connection. On powerfox.energy website, you’ll find two versions of “Poweropti” to choose from; just take a peek at the compatibility list and you’ll know which version works with your own meter. The instructions for activating the extended data set on the meter and whether a PIN is needed from the network operator are clearly explained for each model.Once set up successfully, the small reading head sends its data to the Powerfox servers through WLAN and saves it under your user account. Now you can see in real time on your smartphone how much electricity is being used or fed into your house connection. All that’s left is to send this information to the home charger.

Recharge your batteries with Solar

The PV charging point in the DaheimLader app is activated and filled with the Powerfox access data to use the consumption or feed-in data. Now, the servers behind the wallbox receive all relevant information and know instantly when our solar system is sending electricity back to the grid. The user can choose whether to use all of the solar power for charging or, if they have a smaller system, only a specified portion. Depending on how much solar energy is available, the Daheimlader automatically determines how much power (between six and 16 amps) should be used to charge the car.

Our conclusion in the DaheimLader test

The DaheimLader Touch is already a top-notch choice on its own (find out more in our comparison test in Haus & Garten Test 4/2024 from June 28th, 2024), but when combined with your own PV system, it optimizes resources perfectly.

Instead of only getting eight cents per kWh feed-in tariff, you can charge your car with it. This saves you the hassle of scheduling charging at night and buying expensive energy for it.Once the Poweropti provides reliable data, there’s nothing stopping you from achieving perfect PV surplus charging with the DaheimLader.
