Lee Chambers speaks at the Royal College of Psychiatrists International Congress
On stage at the RCPsych International Congress
This year, the congress took place across four days at the EICC in Edinburgh.

Lee Chambers, chief psychologist and director of Male Allies UK, has taken the stage at this year's RCPsych International Congress. The congress, which attracts 3000 delegates from across the globe, is one of the most notable events in the calendar for psychiatrists and those in associated fields. Chambers spoke about the intersection of eating disorders and ethnicity, an area rarely explored, alongside experts Dr Nadia Craddock, Dr Chukwuemeka Nwuba and Kaysha Thomas.

The Royal College of Psychiatrists is the professional medical body responsible for supporting psychiatrists throughout their careers, from training through to retirement, and in setting and raising standards of psychiatry in the United Kingdom. The Royal College of Psychiatrists celebrated its first International Congress in 2010 with just over 1,300 delegates. Since then, the event has grown steadily to become one of the most prestigious mental health events in the world, attended in 2023 by over 2,600 delegates from 53 countries.

On featuring in this year's congress, Chambers said, "Being able to share my perspectives and insights with eminent and up-and-coming psychiatrists was a real moment to remember on my journey. And being able to talk about something close to my heart and rarely shared, even in a professional capacity, was both validating and enriching. The conversation continued long after leaving the stage, and this showed just how powerful and needed this subject area is, both today and in the future, because eating disorders don't discriminate."

Following his impactful participation in the congress, Chambers is not resting on his laurels. He is actively sharing his journey and work on various stages across Europe. His recent engagements include speaking at South Summit, Climb24, and Karren Brady's Women in Business and Tech Expo, furthering the reach of his important messages around male allyship and intersectionality in healthcare.
