Louis Gossett Jr., the first Black man to win a supporting actor Oscar, has died at the age of 87. The actor died Thursday night in California.
Louis Gossett Jr., the first Black man to win a supporting actor Oscar, has died at the age of 87. Gossett's nephew told The Associated Press on Friday that the actor – who also won an Emmy for his role in the TV series "Roots" – died Thursday night in Santa Monica, California. The cause of death has not yet been released.
