JOKE joins the Infiniverse on Oculus as the battle begins for the top spot in the Metaverse

$JOKE Community token, on the Binance Smart Chain, is the first to open a VR Comedy club in the Infiniverse metaverse with a further 10 clubs planned for Q1 2022.

$JOKE is excited to announce that the project is officially going to be the first business trading in the infiniverse, buying a comedy club right in Grand Central as well as planning another 10 clubs in high profile locations. $JOKE will be the first to run actual, live VR comedy shows and events in the infiniverse, partnering with Multiverse on Oculus to bring its comedian partners and audiences around the world this amazing opportunity.

Simon Young, CEO of the $JOKE project said on signing the deal with Future Tech Labs, the business behind the Multiverse App on Oculus, “There’s no doubt that VR and The Metaverse will eventually replace what we know today as social media. The technology within the space is evolving quickly and early adopters are set to be right at the centre of this exciting new space. Within VR the constraints of the real world don’t apply. Facebook’s rebranding to Meta and commitment to enormous investment gives us confidence that over the next couple of years $JOKE can become a world leader in the VR comedy revolution.”

The battle is already raging for dominance in the metaverse space, with ‘metaverse’ already becoming the biggest buzz word in business for 2022. Recently Microsoft acquired Activision Blizzard, making its biggest investment in their corporate history purchasing the company for over $68B. The reason for the purchase? Activision Blizzard are behind game titles such as World of Warcraft and Candy Crush among others, and poised to be the development arm behind Microsoft’s vision for their very own metaverse. However, it is already becoming clear that ‘corporate owned meterverse projects’ are in direct opposition to what users in web 3.0 and the Defi space desire, i.e. a non-corporate owned or non-majority controlled project. It’s worth remembering that the term “metaverse” was first used in Neal Stephenson’s “Snowcrash” and referred to a dystopian, corporate-owned virtual world.

“This is the opportunity of a lifetime, while the Infiniverse is one of several metaverse projects out there, the pace at which it is growing is frightening,‘’ said Andy Price, CCO of the $JOKE Project. “100’s of thousands of properties have already been snapped up, now we are seeing this exploding. Who knows where this will be in 3-6 months time! We are starting with free events, open mic opportunities and hope to allow comedians to connect with audiences that they would never access without this technology.”

San Shepherd, CEO of the metaverse app Multiverse said “Welcoming $JOKE to Multiverse is no laughing matter. With thousands upon thousands of people already staking claims to their new virtual homes, we are both proud and pleased to be collaborating with $JOKE to bring the human touch of comedy to the metaverse. By joining the Infiniverse, businesses like this add value to our community and help the metaverse become mainstream.”
