New Travel Carbon Monoxide Detector for RV, Camper and Boat

The pandemic has increased demand for RV, campers and boats, exacerbating the risk of carbon monoxide exposure. Forensics Detectors launches their new carbon monoxide detectors to handle the knocks, rain and rough handling while on the go.

LOS ANGELES, CA, January 20, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- With the ongoing pandemic, travelers are ditching flying and instead opting for RVs, campers and boats. These recreational vehicle alternatives have small confined spaces that can be quickly inundated with carbon monoxide that is a colorless and odorless gas that is dangerous and potentially deadly if inhaled.

"Although many people are aware carbon monoxide poisoning can occur in homes, they may not stop to consider it can happen while traveling in a RV, car, camper or boat," Dr. Koz, founder and chief engineer, Forensics Detectors, says.

The CDC estimates at least 430 people die in the U.S. from accidental carbon monoxide poisoning, and some of those occur in RVs, campers, trailers and boats. Carbon monoxide can originate from built-in or portable generators, gas heaters, gas cooking, and portable propane camping stoves and grills. Another hazard for RVs is high grass or weeds, snowbanks, buildings, or other obstructions that may redirect exhaust gas back into the vehicle. For boats, station wagon effects can redirect exhaust gas back into the cabin, cockpit and bridge where carbon monoxide can accumulate. Also, blockage of exhaust outlets can cause carbon monoxide to accumulate in the cabin and cockpit area.

To ensure protection in such confined spaces, Forensics Detectors has launched its model FD-103 RV, Camper and Boat Carbon Monoxide Detector specifically made for recreational mobility. The detectors are battery powered, small yet have a loud 85dB alarm that will buzz, vibrate and flash LEDs when CO levels have exceeded preset alarm levels. The uniqueness of this CO meter is that it is small, waterproof and shockproof making them an ideal CO detector companion on vacation.

"Typical home CO detectors are made to alarm between 60 to 240 minutes when carbon monoxide exceeds 70ppm. This is simply too high for confined space carbon monoxide protection," says Dr. Koz. "We wanted to give the active traveller an option to catch any carbon monoxide accumulation much earlier with a real-time digital display and a detector that can handle the knocks, rain and rough handling while on the go."

The FD-103 gas detector can also be purchased to detect other gases such as hydrogen sulfide or oxygen. For more information about the FD-103 RV, Camper and Boat Carbon Monoxide Detector, visit:
