Hong Kong, Oct 30, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - Hong Kong-based design and development company Trakitall's new C9T bracelet is all set to ensure safe human interaction post the COVID-19 global pandemic. Trakitall claims one network can manage up to 16,000,000 bracelets simultaneously, enough to cover Hong Kong's 7,500,000 population if ever required. It won the Hong Kong Business Award for the Best Innovative Health Product 2020 last month and has a patent application pending.

The coronavirus situation has enabled most governments to introduce free and voluntary smartphone Contact Tracing Apps for their citizens like the UK's NHS Covid19, Canada's ABTraceTogether, France's Stop Covid, Australia's CovidSafe App, and the UAE's TraceCovid Apps. The majority use automatic exchange generated codes which allow a Bluetooth interaction between two mobile phones to be recorded and stored. In the event, one of the two mobile phone users becomes infected the other is notified of the potential risk encounter. Needless to say, both Apple and Google were both coerced into cooperating, to make this possible. As a consequence, there has been much controversy over Data Security, potential invasions of privacy, and the Violation of Civil Liberties.

Whilst governments continue to promote their solutions, there is a growing consensus that they are just not effective enough. Many countries found their application download rates to be less than 30% but for this solution to be effective, at least 60% of populations would need to use them. There seems to be a global distrust and defiance in the use of these applications. In the US which accounts for about 20% of the total global infections, several contact tracing apps are active, but the download rates have limited their success. The only way to achieve full potential would be if their use was made compulsory. The search for other solutions must now be a priority, to get us back to work, study, and play safely.

Singapore was the first to implement a contact tracing app back in March 2020 and now they are first in offering an alternative solution to complement their TraceTogether App. Their distribution plan for a wearable Token is underway to its 5.7 million residents. The token records social distance violations between users and is also being used for entry registration into many public locations. In Hong Kong, there is currently no contact tracing app but have introduced a mandatory wristband and App called StayHomeSafe, which is a different approach as it is used for quarantine monitoring purposes only. However now there is an alternative option, the C9T bracelet concept developed by a local company Trakitall Ltd is set to change the course of the unprecedented post-COVID situation.

This device records and stores all social distancing violations data anonymously necessary for full contact tracing. The data is only accessible in the case of an infection by an authorized official or company administrator. There are other beneficial advantages too, like real-time Body Temperature Monitoring and User Vibration Alerts which warn the user when they are too close to other users or when they have a high temperature or there is a high-temperature user is in the local vicinity. This device does not require the use of a smartphone App and can come with a programmable RFID chip useable for other uses, like Access Control and Entry Registration.

Singapore has been proactive in investing in technology to provide another viable option. Even though there was some initial resistance to the idea, it is the only alternative solution implemented to date, for citizens to move around confidently and interact more safely. Hopefully, soon, other countries will follow their lead to introduce other solutions such as the C9T bracelet. Until then, keep wearing your mask, washing your hands, and follow the social distancing rules until some Private sector Organisation Heads, Company CEOs, or Government Officials evaluate other options and decide to invest in those solutions to get you all back to work, study and play safely.
