Drive Safe

New Audio aimed at limiting the amount interaction a Police Officer has with Minorities during traffic stops

Los Angeles, Jul 16, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - According to recent studies conducted by Stanford University, startling evidence of racial bias has been found in the day-to-day dealings of police in the US. As per an estimate by the University, it has been revealed that black and Latino drivers were stopped more often by the police, based on less evidence of misbehavior and wrongdoing. Similar studies by the country's law enforcement agencies in the state of California have further confirmed the stark disparity in police dealings solely based on race and ethnicity. The studies reinforce the notion that individuals belonging to racial minorities were more likely to be pulled over at traffic stops and were faced with a higher chance of police officers using force against these individuals.

Data collected from the city of Los Angeles in 2018 revealed that twenty-eight per cent of the individuals pulled over during the year by the LAPD officers were black. Surprisingly, people of color constitute only nine percent of the city's population. Similarly, in other cities like San Francisco where the black community accounts for less than five percent of the city's population, data from the country's law enforcement agencies revealed that twenty-eight percent of all traffic stops carried out by San Diego Police department were of black individuals.

As we can see from the statistics, the pattern of blatant misconduct against racial minorities by the country's police departments is quite imminent. With the current

Government's lack of interest in curbing the prevalent racial injustice in the country's police system, how can minority groups safeguard their fundamental human rights?

In order to combat the problem of police misconduct with minorities at traffic signals, developers have put together audio - labelled "Drive Safe". It has been designed by simulating different scenarios of police interventions at traffic stops, primarily concerning racial minorities.

The "Drive Safe" audio can be easily downloaded from the internet; it is designed to limit the verbal interaction between the on-duty police officer and the driver. The audio can be streamed across all streaming platforms and can be played to communicate with the police officer. What the audio does is that it speaks on behalf of the driver, it ensures the physical safety of the driver by listing their fundamental civil rights according to the country's constitution and the justice system. The audio acts as a shield between the police officer and the driver to ensure that there is no verbal or physical altercation between the concerned parties.

The "Drive Safe" audio brings along with it a sense of security for drivers belonging to minority groups, where they can rest assured that their words or actions cannot be misconstrued or presented in a different light. For a lot of people that are not aware of their fundamental rights as a citizen of USA, "Drive Safe" is an excellent initiative to educate these individuals regarding their rights for equality and justice, "Drive Safe" is also exceptionally useful in honing the communication skills of these people so they can passively find their way out of tricky situations, without them being blown out of proportion.

Hopefully, the "Drive Safe" initiative can act as a medium for minority groups to safely tackle the toxic culture of injustice, brutality, and racial bias within our country's police system.
