Grow YearRound with Growing Spaces Geodesic Greenhouse Kits

A Future Hub For Urban Agriculture & Education In Golden, CO

Pagosa Springs, Mar 16, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - Growing Spaces Corp., (GROWING), a Colorado-based, family-owned greenhouse company leading the industry in Geodesic Greenhouse Kits, is pleased to announce that they have formed a partnership with GoFarm, a Colorado-based local agriculture non-profit, to build a local hub of geodesic greenhouses called TurnTable Gardens. The land for TurnTable Gardens was donated by Golden resident Tim Blum and is located in Golden's historic Goosetown district across Tucker Gulch from the American Mountaineering Museum.

The construction on GoFarm's first greenhouse, a 26' Geodesic Growing Dome was finished in August by a wonderful group of local volunteers.  "Growing Spaces is extremely excited to partner with GoFarm and TurnTable Gardens," states Lem Tingley, Growing Spaces Owner. He continues: "Not only does the 26' geodesic greenhouse provide Growing Spaces customers in the Front Range an opportunity to visit a Growing Dome, but it is a perfect example of what can be done in urban communities to help support food insecurity."

Eileen O'Rourke, Founder & CEO of GoFarm adds: "We are thankful for Growing Spaces for donating the use of this Greenhouse to GoFarm.  It supports our efforts to increase the supply of local food, provide fresh produce to the community, and support sustainable farming through training and mentorship. It also presents us with an opportunity to showcase this impressive geodesic technology as an effective, year-round growing solution for Northern climates.  We are dedicated to training the next generation of farmers, and this greenhouse is a wonderful opportunity to do that."

The Growing Dome will supply food to food hubs, local restaurants, and GoFarm's Local Food Share, where community members sign up for a season of local produce. These domes will also enable residents to grow organic food year-round, with the added benefit of providing a permanent place for local residents to gather. The greenhouse is managed by Colorado-born farmer Shannon Harker, who is an apprentice farmer within the GoFarm Incubator program, which supports and trains beginning farmers. The Greenhouse dome will extend Shannon's growing season and amplify her education in urban farming.

You can make an appointment to visit the greenhouse by contacting Growing Spaces at 970-731-2120 or join them at an open house, tentatively scheduled for May 9th.
