Largest Outdoor Art Gallery in Texas at Fort Worth Design District

Gallery Set to Grow During Upcoming Third Annual Graffiti Art Festival on Saturday, March 14 from 11 am to 3 pm

FORT WORTH, TX, January 14, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- From 55-foot tall Big Tex at the Texas State Fair to the palace where the Cowboys play, everything is bigger in Texas. That rule holds just as for true outdoor art galleries.

Texas's largest outdoor art gallery is in Fort Worth Design District, a 47-acre enclave with commercial spaces designed for makers and other creative professionals in fashion, design, architecture, technology and other fields that is the brainchild of Fort Worth Entrepreneur Ron Sturgeon.

The gallery features numerous over 25 billboard-sized art murals created by some of America's top graffiti artists at the annual graffiti art event hosted by the district. "It wasn't hard for us to become Texas's largest outdoor gallery when most of the pieces artists have created for us are shipping container sized," said Jennifer Knittel, the administrator of the district.

The Third Annual Graffiti Art Festival that will be held in the Fort Worth Design District at 1953 Golden Heights Road on Saturday, March 14, 2020, from 11 am to 3 pm.

Each artist will create a billboard-sized art piece with an inspirational, family-friendly theme. The artists' canvasses will be shipping containers that are part of Box Office Warehouse Suites, the innovative business park at the center of the design district, built with more than 100 shipping containers.

"We will be adding several more pieces of the same size during the third annual graffiti art festival, which we expect to draw more than 12,000 people to the district this year," said Knittel.

"We drew more than 5,000 people the first year, growing to 8,000 people last year and are looking for steady growth," said Jim Eaton, VP of RDS Real Estate, the developer of the new Fort Worth Design District. In addition to the annual spray can art contest, the free event will include over 100 arts and crafts vendors, pet suppliers, food trucks and music. Prospective vendors will find information on the upcoming event on the district's website or Facebook page.

Festival attendees can also do the Snap and Share Art Walk, a series of interactive murals that are ideal for snapping selfies or other photos to share. These are on the ends of full size commercial buildings. Couples on the art walk will want to visit the Love Locks mural where adding a lock to the display is part of the fun. You can see lots of the art on Instagram.

Visitors to the festival can also take free tours of Ft Worth business spaces for lease at Box Office Warehouse Suites, the innovative eco friendly shipping container business park and shop at the retailers who have shops in the district, or Paddock Place, the old barn that was saved with the development and converted into shared office space.

Over 100 sponsors and vendors will be raffling prizes throughout the event, including a one-hour Lamborghini Driving experience donated by Sponsor Fort Worth Car Storage. Admission to the event is free.

The event is dog friendly. Those bringing a furry friend will want to visit the Golden Triangle Dog Park that is also part of the new design district.
