Controversial provisions restored to Duke Energy-backed bill as it moves through NC legislature

State House and Senate conferees have agreed on an important utility bill supported by Duke Energy Corp., settling on a version that restores controversial provisions for multiyear rate hikes and some flexibility to exceed the return on equity allowed by regulators.
