Market Update: Lockheed Martin Corporation (NYSE:LMT) – Leidos merger with Lockheed IT unit won’t spark spinoffs post-merger

(LDOS) forges ahead on its merger with Lockheed Martin Corp.’s information systems and global solutions is whether the $10 billion government IT company will survive fully intact. On an earnings call Wednesday with analysts, CEO Roger Krone suggested that the pieces of the puzzle fit together nicely. One of the main concerns comes down to organizational conflicts of interest and the potential for Lockheed IS&GS to have any so-called “Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance” work in its portfolio. Read more on this. Lockheed Martin Corporation (LMT) , currently valued at $71.38B, opened this morning at $230.09. Shares have traded today between $229.96 and $234.59 per share and has traded between $181.91 and $234.59 over the past year. LMT shares are currently priced at 19.66x this year’s forecasted earnings, which makes them relatively inexpensive compared to the industry’s 22.21x earnings multiple for the same period. The company pays shareholders $6.60 per share annually in dividends, yielding 2.91%. According to a consensus of 18 analysts, the earnings estimate of $2.91 per share would be $0.03 worse than the year-ago quarter and a $0.03 sequential decrease. What we find to be interesting is that the full-year EPS estimate of $11.81 is a $0.97 improvement when compared to the previous year’s annual results. The quarterly earnings estimate is predicated on a consensus revenue forecast of $12.64 Billion. If reported, that would be a 8.59% increase over the year-ago quarter.
