PRLog - Jun 18, 2013 - BURLINGAME, Calif. -- The San Francisco Airport Marriott Waterfront is thrilled that its most popular guests have checked back in again:  the Barn Owl Family.

According to general manager Clif Clark, the Barn Owls have once again taken up residence by hatching their four babies on the balcony just outside of room 1141 (which has been nicknamed "The Hoot Suite").
According to Mr. Clark, "Like other loyal customers, the Barn Owl family seems to like to come back year after year because of our great service and the great features of this destination.”

The owls first arrived last June and spent a few months at the hotel much to the delight of staff and guests.  A bit shy of all of the attention, the Barn Owl Family has been keeping clear of the paparazzi so it has been hard to capture an image of the entire family.

To celebrate the owls' return, children staying at the hotel who want to have their very own personal owl, will receive a complimentary stuffed animal owl to remember their experience.  Guests staying in room 1141 also get a stuffed animal as well.  Mr. Clark also plans to present the family with a Marriott Rewards® membership card since the San Mateo SPCA advised that barn owls often nest in the same location each year and this is now their second visit.

Typically, in temperate regions, the breeding season for the Barn Owl begins in late March or early April. Breeding can take place at any time prey is abundant, and may occur at any time of the year. The female usually lays four to seven eggs and she often stays in the nest to incubate the eggs and care for the chicks while the male brings food to the nest.  This year, hotel management has not seen the parents yet, but since they are nocturnal, they believe the parents are returning to feed the babies in the evening.

Mr. Clark notes that they try to keep room 1141, which is on the Concierge Level, open, but on sold out nights, guests placed in this room are requested to be kind to these feathered friends.

The hotel is about to launch a Facebook contest for fans to name the owls. Visitors can enter the “Hoo’s Hoo?” contest or stay up-to-date with all that’s happening on the hotel's facebook page at  www.facebook.com/sanfranciscoairportmarriott.com
