Target Audience includes: Advocates for civilian chaplains, military, faith groups, philanthropists, educators, schools, parents, foster parents, foundations for the underserved youth, student advocates, legislators, Congress and religious liberty advocates.

Why this matters: The presence of a chaplain specifically trained for the school environment (including crises like active shooter, stop the bleed, threat assessment, and prevention) demonstrates why more and more are recognizing the value and demand for faith-based mental heal care. This speaks for itself.

Prior to enrolling in the NSCA Academy, it's newest chaplain gained decades of well-rounded education and experience in ministry, working as a nurse and as a masters prepared social worker; bringing people through their darkest storms.

Civilian Chaplain Care is vital in all sectors where stress and danger lurks. Unfortunately, this can happen anywhere —even in the schools.

According to the Military Chaplaincy Review (2024) "Practical reasons for assigning chaplains to regiments and later, to brigades included the roles eighteenth-century clergy played in educational, social and moral leadership in civilian and military organizations."

Proponents of chaplaincy were marked by divine protection. George Washington had four bullet holes in his coat and two horses shot from under him, yet remained alive. Risking their lives for others, surviving bullets; both he and President Trump recognized the importance of the religious freedoms that America was built upon and thusly sustain as one nation under God.

New York is a leader of opportunity! In a world focused on inclusivity, school chaplaincy should not be excluded. The “Big Apple” has a chance to choose the fruit of a stable society. The vibrancy and freedoms that birthed New York, as the first epicenter, was built upon the kind of faith and the backs of its original forerunners; and with God’s blessing.

In discussing the article, author, Dorothy Kozar, Editorial Contributor at National School Chaplain Association said: “Endorsed chaplain care is spreading across America. You can collaborate with NSCA to build something transformative for a productive, joyful and stable society. It begins in the schools. Any school district in the United States can hire a certified chaplain. No new legislation is required. The authority already exists at the local level. The constitutionality of chaplains was decided 250 years ago.”

Regular readers of NSCA will notice the article takes a familiar tone, described as; 'Non-confrontational, but compelling for a call to action.'

NSCA welcomes comments and questions from readers, relating to the article. They invite a fresh look at all sides of the issue simply because dialog dispels misconceptions and accomplishes important things that otherwise would be lost. It's an opportunity to become better together!
