Perry and Johanna Holloman announce their new workshop, “Integrative Gestalt Practice: Unlocking Your Authentic Life Through Self-Inquiry” from December 2 through 6, 2024 at the Esalen Institute.
—
This upcoming five-day seminar utilizes tools from Gestalt Therapy, guiding participants in using self-awareness to develop “Presence,” a transformative state that makes the experience of the “here and now” immediate, full, and meaningful. A key focus of the workshop's "self-inquiry" methods is recognizing how holding onto the past and worrying about the future diminishes the richness of life in the present. Perry and Johanna will provide individual attention to each participant, assisting in integrating the tools from the workshop into daily life.

This seminar in "Integrative Gestalt Practice" is an in-depth program focused on the practice of "Gestalt Self-Inquiry." It helps individuals rediscover what is most authentic within, especially in relation to challenges encountered at work, home, and in intimate partnerships. The workshop aims to provide tools for understanding and accepting personal experiences, enabling change where possible and adapting to changes beyond control, fostering growth and a higher quality of life.
“The powerful tools presented in this seminar can help support the emergence of what is most authentic in us and will continue to be helpful in daily life long after,” explain Perry and Johanna. “The practice of Gestalt Inquiry can imbue us with an internal sense of agency, clarity, and strength connecting us to what many describe as a sense of ‘inner guidance.’”
This workshop guides participants through a combination of experiential practices involving breath, movement, and structured "inquiries" with individual "open-seat" work. Over five days, Perry and Johanna teach participants to become more aware of significant sensations emerging from the body and the more ancient parts of the nervous system, which reveal what is truly happening both internally and externally. This process empowers individuals to become more fully resourced, capable of living in the present without the filters of past trauma or future anxiety. The tools of "Gestalt Self-Inquiry" taught in this workshop help participants connect to a sense of inner guidance, fostering strength, capability, patience, and compassion for self and others.
Further exercises conducted in dyads and triads enable participants to process their individual experiences by recognizing that similar challenges are shared by others, highlighting that no one is alone in facing difficulties. Additionally, exercises will be provided for continued self-exploration and personal transformation beyond the workshop.
Students are recommended to read “Gestalt Therapy Verbatim” by Frederick S. Perls and “The Unfolding Now” by A. H. Almaas before coming to the workshop.
