Historic Jeddah Shines at the World Travel Market in London as a Global Cultural Destination Combining Heritage and Innovation
Historic Jeddah concluded its participation in the World Travel Market in London (World Travel Market), held from 4 to 6 November 2025, with a strong presence that drew wide attention from global tourism and cultural audiences participating in the exhibition.

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia - 7 November, 2025 - The Historic Jeddah pavilion stood out among leading international destinations, attracting media coverage from major outlets and journalists specializing in culture and heritage. Reporters conducted interviews with representatives of Historic Jeddah, highlighting the pavilion’s interactive experiences and digital showcases that reflect the ongoing development within the district’s comprehensive revival and rehabilitation projects. Several other media outlets documented the pavilion’s activities, key showcases, and visitor engagement.

During its participation in the exhibition, Historic Jeddah signed four memorandums of understanding aimed at developing the cultural and tourism experience and strengthening strategic partnerships with national entities working in the sector. The first agreement, with Discover Saudi, focuses on developing integrated tourism programs and interactive packages that spotlight the cultural depth and heritage identity of Historic Jeddah, supporting integration between the cultural and tourism sectors. The second, with the Saudi Tour Guides Association, supports national talent development by qualifying tour guides to professional standards that enhance visitor engagement and interaction with the district’s landmarks.

The third memorandum included cooperation with Deira Tours to broaden tourism experiences through new routes and activities that strengthen the district’s appeal that reinforce its position as a key local and international tourism destination. The fourth, signed with Seyaha set out plans to jointly develop specialized content and experiences that celebrate Historic Jeddah’s cultural identity and historical authenticity.

Historic Jeddah’s pavilion also featured a rich line-up of tourism products and interactive elements, including guided heritage tourist routes, a digital display of archaeological discoveries accessible through QR codes, in addition to special packages for the teamLab Borderless Museum. Visitors were further introduced to the district’s presence on Google Arts & Culture, offering visitors immersive virtual tours and stories that connect the district’s heritage through modern technology.

This comes as part of the Ministry of Culture’s efforts to continue developing its cultural and tourism programs in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to preserve architectural heritage and utilize it as a source of creativity and sustainable development, while strengthening the Kingdom’s position as a global destination for culture and heritage.

Historic Jeddah is in the heart of Jeddah city and is one of the oldest urban settlements on the Red Sea coast, Saudi Arabia. For centuries, it served as a hub for pilgrims, traders, and travelers from across the Islamic world. Its iconic traditional Hijazi architectural style—reflected in its wooden rawasheen, coral-stone buildings, ancient mosques, and traditional markets—earned it a place on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2014.

In 2018, the Saudi Ministry of Culture launched the Jeddah Historic District Program to revive the district’s architectural integrity and cultural vitality, transforming it into a global tourist destination rooted in Saudi identity, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. This includes restoring historic buildings, rehabilitating public spaces, and stimulating cultural and economic activities.

As part of the program structure, the destination management team provides an integrated experience for visitors, including tourist guidance, a unified call center, digital services, publications, and licensing, in addition to coordination with service providers to ensure comprehensive and optimal operations.
