The career of award-winning actor Jermaine Rivers is moving to greater heights with his recent announcement that he will be joining the cast of the Netflix hit series Sweet Magnolias for the show’s third season, which is set to return Spring 2023.
Sweet Magnolias is a romantic drama streaming television series that premiered on Netflix in May 2020, based on the Sweet Magnolias novels by Sherryl Woods. The show was renewed for a second season in July of the same year. Last May 2022, the series was renewed for a third season, along with the announcement of new cast members joining the show. One new addition to the Sweet Magnolias family is Jermaine Rivers, joining the show as a recurring character named Charles Perkins. Unfortunately, there is not much information divulged to the public regarding Jermaine’s character in the show, so his fans will have to wait and see until season three premiers to learn more about his part in the series.
Prior to bagging this role on the third season of Sweet Magnolias, Jermaine Rivers worked on several other television and film projects. Most Marvel fans will recognize him as Shatter on the Marvel hit series The Gifted, where he showcased his incredible athleticism and physical abilities by performing all of his own stunts.
Some of Jermaine’s other network television credits include Dynasty, MacGyver, Power Book III, and Tyler Perry’s The Haves and Have Nots, while some of his film credits include Spider-Man No Way Home, Hangman and Den of Thieves. Jermaine Rivers also played Rod in the horror-comedy film The Night Sitter in 2018, where his performance drew praise and positive attention because of his impressive ability to deliver tongue-in-cheek comedy.
Throughout his career, Jermaine Rivers has portrayed a variety of types of characters. The actor has proven himself to be a diverse talent who can give justice to a multitude of roles. But as Jermaine builds his work portfolio, he is also building a reputation that casting directors and producers can rely on.
Joining the cast of Sweet Magnolias in season three is just one of several projects that Jermaine is attached to. Fans can see him this fall in his first DCEU film Black Adam (October 2022) starring Dwayne Johnson. He also secured lead and supporting roles in the following films that will be released next year: A Party to Die For (2023), and Freedom’s Path (2023).
