A career of family law leadership recognized: Richard Orsinger receives John F. Sheehy, Jr., Award

Family law firm Orsinger, Nelson, Downing & Anderson, LLP, (ONDA) is pleased to announce that name partner and distinguished family law attorney Richard Orsinger was awarded the John F. Sheehy, Jr. Distinguished Attorney Award at the Texas Board of Legal Specialization’s 51st annual induction ceremony in Austin.

The award is one of the highest honors presented by the Board of Legal Specialization and recognizes an attorney who's over his career has shown commitment to serving the public and justice system, advanced standards of the legal profession and has been the epitome of outstanding professional ethics and civility.

Mr. Orsinger has been recognized for decades of contributions to the Texas legal community, his influential scholarship and speaking, and his enduring commitment to mentoring fellow attorneys. Widely regarded as one of the state’s foremost family law practitioners, he has played a significant role in shaping continuing legal education and advancing standards of excellence within his specialty.

“Family law is a demanding specialty that requires technical skill and sound judgment,” said Mr. Orsinger. “Board certification reflects that discipline. Mr. Orsinger also was keynote speaker for the 51^st induction ceremony, which celebrated the latest group of legal professionals who have earned board certification, a distinction held by a select percentage of Texas attorneys.

Mr. Orsinger last year celebrated 50 years of practice and has received numerous professional honors, including the Texas Bar Foundation’s Dan Rugeley Price Memorial Award for dedication to the legal profession, the Sam Emison Award from the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists, admission to the Texas Family Law Hall of Fame, and several State Bar of Texas certificates of merit. He also is consistently recognized by The Best Lawyers in America, Texas Super Lawyers and Lawdragon.
