The MolinaCares Accord Donates $125,000 to the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada to Strengthen Regional Behavioral Health Crisis Response

The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), in collaboration with Molina Healthcare of Nevada, announced a $125,000 donation to the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada in support of its Regional Behavioral Health Initiatives Fund. The investment will advance regional efforts to build and sustain a best‑practice behavioral health crisis response system serving communities across Northern Nevada.

The grant will fund a full‑time position at Washoe County dedicated to project management, facilitation, data collection, reporting, and other key support functions essential to the region’s coordinated behavioral health strategy. This role strengthens the infrastructure needed to maintain momentum across multiple community partnerships and ensure continuous quality improvement.

“Partners like Molina allow us to continue the critical work our community is doing to improve how Nevada responds to behavioral health crises,” said Eaton Dunkelberger, CEO of the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada. “This MolinaCares grant will help us advance a system that is more accessible, responsive, and effective for the individuals and families who rely on it.”

This new position will provide direct support to two active regional behavioral health coalitions, along with their associated committees, helping sustain collaborative efforts among public agencies, health care providers, nonprofit organizations, and community advocates. These coalitions play a central role in strengthening crisis response pathways, identifying service gaps, and promoting best‑practice approaches across Washoe County.

“At Molina, we are committed to supporting solutions that improve behavioral health outcomes and strengthen access to care and critical services,” said Rob Baughman, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Nevada. “We are proud to partner with the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada and Washoe County to enhance the coordinated crisis response infrastructure that residents depend on.”

The Community Foundation of Northern Nevada, together with Washoe County, established its Regional Behavioral Health Initiatives Fund to advance long‑term, collaborative strategies to improve access to behavioral health resources across the region. MolinaCares’ contribution supports that mission by helping to ensure ongoing advancements in the development of an integrated crisis care model.
