Walturn is Innovating Life Changing Health-Tech with Flutter

NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / March 20, 2023 / New York-based product and technology consulting agency, Walturn has embraced the app development framework, Flutter, to build innovative health technology products that make a difference by tackling some of the most prevalent mental health issues we face.

As the healthcare industry has seen massive shifts toward digital solutions (e.g., telemedicine and remote patient monitoring) in recent years, health entities are left searching for the most innovative, effective digital applications to meet the evolving needs of their patients. From the patient perspective, solutions like telemedicine appointments are essential for those who remain apprehensive about returning to a medical office. On the other hand, healthcare entities are seeing the need for a framework to better align with an individualized approach to patient care.

Flutter makes it possible to create visually appealing and interactive applications through customizable widgets, which offer interfaces that appeal especially to educational and healthcare applications.

The visual appeal is just one element, however. Flutter makes it possible for healthcare companies to incorporate real-time health monitoring data into their apps, providing patients with personalized insights and educational materials that can help them manage their health more effectively.

Creating Life Changing Apps

Thus far, Walturn has built apps for autism, mental health, PTSD, and veterans, some of which are attributed to real-life survivors.

Offering apps for traumatic brain injuries, PTSD, and dentistry, Walturn has identified ways to benefit a diverse range of healthcare workers. Currently, two of the company's most prominent apps are LightBridge, funded by the State of Nebraska Health and Human Services department, and the NYU Dentistry Application.

LightBridge is a mental health application designed to help people who have suffered from traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and PTSD get on track to living normal lives. To accomplish this, the app tracks daily routines and provides anonymous peer support to users. The peer support function is useful for TBI survivors because they are connected with others who have undergone similar experiences.

This application was inspired by an 18-year-old boy who suffered a traumatic brain injury. The boy's mother, Joy Lewis, helped facilitate the development of LifeBridge. She says, "For those who want to live their best life. And routine...it gives you all of those strengths that come from daily routines and connection."

The second application, which was recently featured at the AEDA Conference, was inspired by the third oldest dental school in the United States, The New York University College of Dentistry. Walturn partnered with the university to create a mobile application that improves interpretation skills in dental radiology. Thus far, the application is being used by 40 staff members and 2000 students at the college.

The app is used to aid students and professionals with oral checkups. With the NYU Dentistry Application, students enhance their learning and understanding of dental radiology through a detailed study of dental anomalies, pathology, and anatomy.

User feedback

LightBridge has been a boon for victims of PTSD as well as their caregivers. Users benefit from privacy, data encryption, and safe data storage. At the same time, caretakers stay informed of their loved one's condition through an interface that is easy to navigate.

Users appreciate the app's emphasis on privacy, data encryption, and secure data storage, which help ensure their personal health information remains safe. Meanwhile, caretakers can easily stay informed of their loved ones' condition through an intuitive, easy-to-navigate interface.

Given that the veteran community has twice as many PTSD survivors as the general population, LightBridge has been especially promising for veterans seeking mental health support. For example, one Navy veteran reported using the app daily to check in with their wellness. Additionally, the Department of Health and Human Services previously approved a grant for the beta trial of LightBridge, making it free of charge to the veteran community.
